Hello and a very warm welcome to day five of our Autumn Equinox retreat.
It’s been such a lovely week so far. We’ve updated our Autumn Bookstack, got involved with some delicious Autumn Baking, and cosied up with some Seasonal Folklore. You can catch up here if you’ve missed anything. And don’t forget to pop over to the chat to say hello if you fancy it.
Today, on the eve of the Autumn Equinox we’re taking a moment to reflect with an Equinox ritual.
This is a ritual to help us to gain more balance in the coming months by encouraging us think about what might bring us a little more happiness and joy. I think you’ll enjoy it.
Let’s begin shall we?
Autumn Equinox Rebalancing Ritual
This time of equal night and day is the perfect moment to take stock of what’s in balance in your life and what might need a little adjustment. Modern Equinox celebrations tend to focus on ways to help us settle and reset before launching into a new season.
This is my take on a rebalancing ritual that can be repeated at each of the Equinoxes.
This should be a gentle activity that makes you feel optimistic, so try and enjoy the process and don’t overthink it. No one will be marking your work at the end!
It’s just for you, so just relax, write intuitively and enjoy the process. Light a candle, make a warm drink and settle in.
Start by taking two pieces of paper.
On the first piece of paper write a list of all the things you’d like to invite more of in your life. Think about what you would spend more time doing in an ideal world. Things that would help you to feel more balanced. Whatever springs to mind, write it down. Don’t think too much about how you’re going to achieve these things, just fill your page with lovely things.
Now it’s time to add images to this list of words. I’m a visual person so I love an excuse to get creative, but if this doesn’t appeal to you then it’s not essential. I do find, however, that can often be easier to identify what it is we long for when we collect visual materials. A common thread or recurring theme often presents itself to you completely unbidden. Not sure what you want, but keep collecting images on a particular theme? Let the images lead you. And we’re going analogue for this, cutting and sticking real pictures with real scissors and glue. Yes, it’s a bit primary school, but it’s also incredibly soothing and fun. Give your eyes and shoulders a screen break.
When you’ve finished this, take your beautifully decorated list and place it somewhere you can see it every day. This bit is important. You want to focus your attention and your subconscious on this list of lovely things that feel important and deeply personal to you. So put it somewhere you can see it easily every day.
Now, on the second piece of paper, write down anything that you feel takes up too much time in your life or that you would like to let go of. Again, don’t overthink this, just follow your intuition. This list doesn’t get the moodboard treatment though! We don’t want to focus any creative energy on things we want to reduce or get rid of. So just write a simple list.
Tuck this second list away somewhere out of sight, but keep it safe and we’ll check in again with it at the Spring Equinox.
That’s it. Now there’s nothing more to do, or worry about. By acknowledging all the things you want to invite more of, you’re taking gentle steps towards bringing those into your life.
And by writing down things you want to let go of, you’ve already taken the first step towards releasing them.
We’ll check in again with both our lists at the Spring Equinox and I bet you they will have started to gently pull a little bit more into balance without you even realising.
Simple magic.
Ok, that’s all for now. If you try this ritual do let me know how you get on!
I’ll see you tomorrow for the final day of our retreat where we gather and celebrate on the day of the Equinox. Hopefully feeling refreshed, relaxed and cosy after our week of Autumnal Activities.
Until then!

Missed a day? You can catch up with all our Retreat activities on the Seasonal Retreat tab on my homepage. Enjoy.
I was thinking of doing a vision board for the Autumn but this feels much nicer 🍁🐿️
This is a simple yet powerful ritual! I have just tried it and I must say that writing a list of all the things I’d like to invite more of in my life has given me a feeling of deep joy. And listing the things I’d like to let go of is so liberating! I haven’t completed the visual part with images yet but so far it has been such an empowering ritual… thank you Victoria for suggesting it💫
