A big wave from me this morning. Can you believe it’s the Equinox tomorrow!
I’m really feeling a shift in energy this week. Maybe it’s the warmer weather, or the lighter mornings, possibly it’s the sudden increase in birdsong, or the blackthorn blossom and tiny green hawthorn leaves that have suddenly popped up in the garden.
Whatever it is, I’m suddenly feeling much more awake and ready for the year to begin. I’ve planted seeds, I’ve baked, I’m planning holidays, and I have some very exciting news to share tomorrow. There’s no stopping me now!
If you’re also feeling a springtime burst of enthusiasm, I find it’s always a good idea to spend a bit if time getting your house in order before you dive into new plans.
And I don’t mean your literal house, although you can do some spring cleaning if you feel the call.
I mean sorting through any mental clutter, cleansing any stale energy and starting the new year from a place of clarity.
So for the penultimate day of our mini online Spring retreat, we’re going to go through three quick energy-cleansing rituals to help you jump into the new year from a healthy place.
3 Energy cleansing rituals for Spring
1. Take a cleansing dip
As a symbolic and literal way to wash off any sleepiness from the Winter months, taking a dip in some fresh water can to help reset your mind and body for Spring.
A Spring dip can either be a warm ritual bath or an fresh outdoor dip depending on how brave you’re feeling.
If you’re taking a bath, add energising essential oils or herbs. And if you’re taking an outdoor wild dip, take a friend, a life float and a hot drink to have afterwards. Safety first.
2. Cleanse the air
There’s nothing better than being able to throw all the windows wide open after a winter of having them tightly closed.
To make it into a New Year ritual, open as many windows as possible, then make a symbolic sweep of each room in your house, focusing on doorways and entrances to sweep away stale energy and dust.
Once you’ve done this, light a purifying candle (beeswax is perfect) and welcome in the new season.
3. Cleanse your energetic boundaries
If you have to work with, or live close to, people who bring negative energy, this energy boundary setting is essential way to protect your peace.
Spring is a good time to renew or start this practice - you might have already heard me talk about this in my March newsletter. Here’s how I do it.
Light a candle
Charge up a healing crystal if that’s your thing
Draw an imaginary protective circle around yourself. No bad energy is allowed past that line.
Imagine a little flame of warm sunlight inside that circle, pushing back against any dark energy.
Hold that boundary firm and protect your own peace.
