I wrote earlier in the month about my own journey back to nature. The last 15 years have brought a realisation that my relationship with the outdoors is essential and non-negotiable. It grounds me, and it roots me in something greater. These are all things I unknowingly felt and experienced as a child, but which were sapped out of me in adulthood 🌿
Victoria. I am elated you are continuing to encourage finding our nature tribe. As I commented on your note, my writing doesn’t have a prime focus on nature, my love for nature and the outdoors is woven throughout. I went to Iceland recently and as you can imagine, the landscape of the country was awe-inspiring. I often found myself speechless. But the main highlight for me was, well…the puffins. I hope you enjoy my little story of my puffin connection.
Loved that story! Thanks for sharing it. You were so lucky to see puffins. Iceland seems like a magical place… look forward to reading more about your trip 💫
I’m so happy to see this! One of my recent posts was inspired by pruning my rose bush - linked here. And if you’re into wildflower photography, do check out my latest post “Walking with Wildflowers”.
Most of my writings are poems that include the beauty of Mother Nature - towering trees, rain, clouds, etc. Today, I shared a piece called Daydreaming that encompasses a magical journey through the forest.
This is such a great description of summer, I love it. Now I want to eat cherries by the lake and stargaze too! Oh and that’s a beautiful, joyful painting as well 💫
I wish there was a nature category on Substack and I know a few people have already created some nature directories (Rebecca’s is a great one https://ourhome.substack.com)
I specialise in urban nature and I was pleased that my recent essay on familiar strangers resonated with you and so many other people.
Yes, I loved that article! It was beautifully written and it really made me think. And thanks for the link to Rebecca's directory. A few people have mentioned that now so I'll add a link to it in this post.
Yes, yes, yes 🙌 I want to join this nature tribe 😍 Nature is part of my life every single day and has been since I was a little girl. I look forward to reading your Substack and finding other tribe members here 💚
I write lots of simple nudges to embrace the seasons, from seasonal reading to eating, and lots of outdoor activities through the year. This was a favorite post about camping to get outside and embrace the first warm days of late spring. As a bonus, we saw northern lights on this trip!
Ah Vicky, this is such a brilliant idea, thank you for all you are doing to nurture this lovely community! I am SO touched to be included in your post, really it means so much. I can’t wait to check out all of the writing in your post and in the comments. I write at the intersection of mothering, creativity, home & garden and living seasonally underpins it all! xx
What a wonderful idea :) Pileated Woodpeckers are the topic of my August newsletter, and on September 1st I have a beautiful post coming out, titled "Wood Ducks - Dazzling Denizens of Water and Wood." Happy to have any nature (and pet/horse) lovers join me. https://lindsayhartley.substack.com/p/peckish-pileated-woodpeckers-and
I loved reading that. Pileated woodpeckers look brilliant, we don’t have them here in the uk so I loved finding out about them. You’re so right about the need for dead wood too, that’s a real mind shift but it’s so important 🌲
Thank you for taking time to read it, and I'm glad you enjoyed it, Victoria. Yes, they are stunning birds, and snags are so important for so many species.

Thanks for sharing David! Love the idea of the outdoors being non-negotiable. You're absolutely right.
Thank you for this thread 🙏🌿

i wrote a post this week about late summer, foraging for blackberries and making jam: https://open.substack.com/pub/comingtomysenses/p/on-late-summer-treasures?r=1cmzxe&utm_medium=ios
would LOVE to find more seasonal food/nature writers 🫶🏻
Hello! Blackberry season is the absolute best! 💫
Oh lovely we've done that recently too and such a simple, pleasurable thing to do isn't it. One of my summer highlights.

Hello and welcome! 🌲
I actually wrote a whole blog post about tuning into the rhythm of nature and the seasons. It is in Dutch alas, but I guess Google Translate can help. https://hetoerbos.substack.com/p/afstemmen-op-de-natuur
This is so beautiful. I've been posting seasonal recipes all summer, and just posted this one about making the most of peach season before it's gone.

I can't wait to dig into the rest of these posts here in the comments!
Hello! That peach crumble recipe sounds delicious 🧡
I wrote a short reflection piece on summer. It’s been a wonderful slow summer for me.

Thanks for creating this! My piece isn’t specifically about nature or the seasons but those themes are woven in 💫

Thanks for sharing! You’re absolutely right, Creative rest is so important. And this feels very in tune with late summer energy levels

Gosh what a lovely idea and so many wonderful pieces of writing to explore. My substack is very new but nature and noticing seasonal change will be weaved through my writing. Here’s a link to a post about summer, which I hope you’ll enjoy https://open.substack.com/pub/byjenniferjordan/p/i-found-summer?r=1x9p34&utm_medium=ios

I loved this, the list was super helpful, as was the tip for adding to it while you're away! Noted. Also.. the northern lights! Pure magic.
