Oh gorgeous! I love the balance of sparkle and also permission to slow and retreat inwards that December brings. I want to make alllll the recipes you shared! Xx
Everything you list are reasons I love winter. It's magical. I especially love a winter walk. Winter is my time for special nature journaling adventures, so I'm usually out there with a small notebook, a pencil to make sketches, and taking note of everything - the color of the shadows on snow, the different shape of pinecones, different animal tracks (my favorite!)...
This was such a lovely read, thank you for capturing the magic so beautifully. I loved what you said about how all of these moments make Christmas, rather than just the day itself. I am enjoying lighting lots of candles, and I was just thinking the other day how it is amazing we have an entire tree inside our homes at this time of year! I have been reading Twas the Night Before Christmas book to my two little ones and love the idea of a Winter Nap! xx
I love how we all go fully Pagan at this time of year and drag entire trees indoors without giving it a second thought! Brilliant isn't it. I've also been reading that book / poem to my son and have been trying to reframe his bedtime as a 'winter nap' x
Loved reading this - I'm enjoying lighting candles in the morning, instantly makes the kitchen feel cosy and is calming too. Am definitely taking the opportunity to nap too, when my son is napping too. The bit about picking the mistletoe sounds very complicated!! I also love when you talk about the small moments in December as:
"these are not just the moments building up to Christmas, they are Christmas." X
Ah, it's always the little moments that feel the most Christmassy isn't it! I often feel more festive then than I do on Christmas Day itself. Got to appreciate them all. And I loved writing about the mistletoe-gathering folklore, it did seem pleasingly complex!
I love looking at the stars during winter and living in the country provides for excellent stargazing! I love all your December ideas. I know a lot of people love the smell of pine, but I have never been a fan 😬 I wish I was.

I love both sides to December too! (and I want to bake ALL month long too 😁) x

Ah, that sounds amazing! So glad you're a winter fan too... there's definitely some magic around at this time of year. Wishing you a lovely December.
And you as well!

Ah interesting! I guess the smell of pine can be a bit overwhelming when it's indoors - maybe it's best in small festive doses! ☺️
