Thank you for these incredibly soothing and happy rituals! I happen to live in an area with a large number of Finns, and we have a wonderful Finnish bakery - I checked and they do make strawberry cake for Midsummer - already ordered one! Thanks for the inspiration!

The magic within this post! Absolutely beautiful, thank you for sharing all of these rituals and wisdom. I love June, especially the roses and the strawberries and intend to make the most of both. I hope to weave both into our solstice/full moon gathering, thank you for inspiring me further. And yes that rose-lined door, it is the stuff of dreams xx

Love this Vicky! June reminds of me of that scene in Jane Austen's Emma in the strawberry fields!

You just succeeded in making me feel even more excited about this month - plus, I’m scratching down tons of ideas and plans in my journal!

And the jordgubbstårta?! Delicious! My mother-in-law makes an amazing one, or two, or three throughout the summer! 🍓

I’m a Brit living on the southern hemisphere, NZ to be precise, so we’re approaching winter solstice here 🌕 I couldn’t help reading your reflections & ideas of what you’ll be doing back home. I’ll certainly save some of these in my heart for when it’s strawberry season in our corner of the world 🍓

I have a secret wild strawberry spot, it's in a rather prettily landscaped hollow which was actually made as a runoff basin for the nearby housing estate! Nobody else seems to know about it (apart from some slugs so I have to get to them before they do) and with all the rain this year - I live in north-west France so pretty similar weather to the UK - the berries are really big and juicy. I collected enough for a decent serving with some ice cream the other day, and for good measure let them soak in some syrup I made from very pink, Turkish delight flavoured, rose petals and lemon thyme from the garden.

June for me is the last hurrah before the dreary, overcooked, sticky, bug-ridden heat of high summer, which I really don't care much for at all. The rain has gone on a bit, but rather that than drought and frankly scary heat waves, and the garden is looking amazing for it!

This sounds idyllic! That syrup! Amazing 🤩 I feel the same about the summer, I really struggle with the heat so I don’t mind cool rainy days at all ✨

On solstice - I usually invite my friends on a bike ride that ends as the sun sets, to make the most of the day.

I let out a contented sigh reading this. How wonderful. I am definitely going to gather some herbs that evening and maybe even some roses 🌹 I think I’ve said before that summer even though it’s my birth time is not my favourite season but this made me re-appreciate June. Now time for some strawberries for breakfast!
