I wish it were cold enough for the knits here in Virginia, but it’ll continue with warm/hot weather for another month yet! That being said, we will be seeing cooler mornings, and we absolutely get those skies (I even commented on it to my husband this morning!). Apple season is also a big deal here, with several pick your own orchards, and of course a few ciderworks. I’m definitely considering Apple and blackberry crumble now though 😉
ooh, apple cider, I forgot to mention that! Lovely. It's still quite warm here too, I may have been a bit over-eager with the knitwear! But I'll be prepared when the cold weather arrives! 😄
What a wonderful positive piece of writing. Loved it. I didn’t know about not picking hazelnuts on certain days/dates. I’m a true summer fanatic, but I do love enjoying all the seasons. This week coming is full on sunshine, so I’m going to bask in it.
Ah thank you JP! That's very kind. And yes, the best thing about September is we can look forward to all the lovely bits of Autumn while still enjoying some hot sunny days with a bit of luck. Best of both worlds!
When I was pregnant with my daughter, I had such intense apple cravings that fall. Apple bread, apple donuts, apple cider, allllll the apples. It was the best September of fruit in my life.
We am just saying hello to Spring here in Australia and warmer days are returning. I am still getting used to the seasonal shift from moving over here just 18 months ago.
Yes, you're not alone in wanting to wait until the Equinox to call it Autumn! I'm always just so eager 😁 Looks like we've got warm summer weather for a little while longer now though...
Ha ha. Confused over here too.. I've put my jumpers away temporarily and am pausing on the autumnal activities for a week or so. We actually nearly always have a September heatwave but it always manages to catch me out!
Happy days for you to be sure with the arrival of Autumn. It's my favorite season back in Australia. Here in Thailand there are only 3 seasons Cool, Rainy and Hot! I'd love to be knitting cosy knits but I'm trying out light weight plant fibers that I'm able to wear in a hot climate. :)
I love this so much, Vicky!! I'm currently finishing up my 'Slow Living Activities for Autumn' post to go out tomorrow and we have some similar suggestions. I'm an Autumnal gal to my bones as well, and am so happy this season is finally arriving. I especially loved the folklore you shared at the end, that's such a fun touch to ring in the new season. Thank you for sharing!
Hi Victoria -- I'm a new subscriber and enjoyed my first newsletter! My family celebrates the Autumnal Equinox each year -- with gifts (think: soup thermos, teas, blankets, books, etc.) and a special dinner of hearty soup & bread...my husband usually bakes ginger snaps + we enjoy herbal tea for dessert. It's our way of ushering in the darkening time before Solstice. ♡
Beautifully written! You've captured everything that's lovely about autumn in this post. I always have mixed feelings about the arrival of autumn and particularly miss golden summer evenings in the park, but totally agree that those bright blue September skies are stunning.
A lovely post Victoria! Thank you for reminding us of all the beauty there is to come as we approach back to school. Apple season has started here so we’re having apple and blackberry crumble this weekend.

I'm in Worcestershire and we've already had the heating on! Can't wait for wooly knits...
Ooh. heating on already! 🔥 Super cosy!

Precisely Victoria. Looking forward to making a crumble now though!

Oooh, that sounds amazing! 🍎 I wonder if your daughter will love all things apply now too!

Ah you're on the flip side! Spring is so lovely though. That's a nice season to be headed into 💫
Nope not Autumn! I’m firmly in the summer soul camp. Autumn starts with the Autumn Equinox. This is harvest or late summer for me.
But loved reading your love not to September x
Or even love note!!!

I too called it Autumn this week. But now I’m thinking we went too soon? I got the SPF30 out for gardening today. It’s all very confusing.

Ooh that’s really interesting. Which of the three seasons are you currently in?
The rainy season :) It can rain all day or a heavy downpour can only last for minutes!
That sounds quite refreshing though! And long-awaited rain I'd imagine?
Refreshing for all the plants and trees but it is so humid and hot that it's not so refreshing for humans! :)

Ah brilliant, I'll look forward to reading that one! ☺️🍂

Hello! So happy to have you here in our nature community! Thanks for saying hello. Your Autumn Equinox dinner tradition sounds wonderful 🍂💫
I'm off to get apples tomorrow, I see an apple pie coming on 😊
🍎☺️
Ummm crumble! Reading this lovely post I subconsciously snuggled into my armchair - I definitely love this time of year
ooh yes, it's definitely armchair season!
If harvest season isn’t the best than I don’t know what is! I love all the fall activities!
Another Autumn fan! Hurrah ☺️ 🍂

Thank you ☺️ Still plenty of blue skies and warm evenings to be had this month too, with any luck 💫

Oooh, Apple and blackberry crumble... Perfect! 💫☺️
Plenty to be had! And still some late-summer sun to enjoy before Autumn properly hits as well ☀️🍂
