Yesss all of the things you mention (plus my birthday!) makes me a September soul, I love the crispness, the sense of returning, gathering as well as letting go and shedding. There is something that is just so beautiful about the romantic fading and fullness of September xx
I find the shift from summer to autumn a little sad. I like the warmth and I find it hard to say goodbye. But now I have the back to school vibe everyone at work is contactable again there’s a buzz at work. There are things I like about the slide from autumn into winter season as I’m a food grower and it’s gets easier in this half of the year as there is so much less growth. I can prepare beds without competition from the couch grass, marestail, bind weed and thistles. I can get more done as there’s less planting and sowing to be done and the garden and allotment are wondrous spaces to be in in this phase of the year. We have the delight of the leaves changing, the autumn fruit of apples, quince and then medlars. Oh and I’m really looking forward to the time of year when the Jerusalem artichokes can be eaten, lovely in ferments and kimchis. I make a cabbage kimchi through the autumn and winter too. Maybe a fire cider is called for this year. What I don’t like is the dark and the cold. But I do love hot cuppers, the wood burner, crocheting, cozy knitwear and making cozy knitwear. It’s bitter sweet. And on the other side we have spring - my favourite!
That is such a wonderful list! I agree, seasonal transitions can be really tricky, but you've just described so many things to look forward to... hopefully you've written yourself into an Autumn mindset now 🍁
Oh I only have the melancholy of the change for a week or two. I get in the swing of autumn harvesting pretty quickly. Made a gorgeous raspberry jam with the first of the season’s apples for pectin. I am also thinking king of making a green tomato ketchup as I’ve got tons of green tomatoes (not many ripe ones!). Also gathering seeds and bulbils for the next season. I have bulbs to plant to. Can start dreaming about next years season.
I hate the idea of summer ending but once September is here I am always surprised by how much I love it. That crispy evening air and the sparkly soft light of autumn are truly special 🍂
Autumn is my favourite season of all. I love going for a woodland walk, witnessing all the colour changes taking place. And don’t get me started on notebooks- I’m slightly obsessed with them 😂.
We always used to say my dad's moods worked with the moon, it would have been his birthday on 18th when the harvest supermoon is making an appearance 🤭
When I was younger, I couldn't wait to get out of school (besides my friends, I wasn't a fan either) but now I kind of miss the excuse to get a special scholastic diary or pick a new pencil case, as my job is solely happening on a computer. However, September is still special for me, even if in the last few years the heat has spread over this month too. I'm waiting for the first rainy day to curl up with an autumnal cozy romance and read for hours 🥰

Fading and fullness is such a perfect description. It's such a great month isn't it, I love it too 🍁
September Notebook, I see what you did there! And, yes, there’s nothing like a new notebook.😍
They’re addictive aren’t they! 📒
September always feels like the chance to start over.
It really does 💫
September has to be my favourite time of year.
It's the best isn't it! 🍃🍂

It can be a difficult transition, but there is SO much to look forward to in September 🍁
One apple crumble in and already so happy!
Hurrah!

That's a lovely sign 🌝

I know what you mean. The freshness of a new term is so appealing. Permission given to buy yourself a new pencil case and diary! 📔
Haha thank you! 🤗
