A POEM FOR EVERY SPRING DAY by Allie Esiri . Macmillan 14.99
This is my 3rd year rereading this wonderful anthology. Two poems for each day, one of morning joy and enthusiasm, one more reflective for evening. Today’s are Spring by Christina Rossetti, and Flowers and Moonlight on the Spring River by 7th century Chinese Tang-Ti. Tomorrow, William Blake and Philip Larkin. We get nursery rhymes, nonsense, nature, love, feminism, story ballads, philosophy, translations, classics - just reading the index of first lines is a joy!
Great recommendations and I love to adopt a cyclical living way into my year, so your little suggested rituals are encouraging. Think I am going to revisit the Wind in the Willows and am drawn to the one about Woodland Folk Tales. Thank you
My daughter bought me a book last week which feels so very Spring-like...it's called The Language of Flowers by Mandy Kirkby...lovely to dip into over a cup of herbal tea 😊
Secret Garden is such an amazing book. Something new every time you read it .Ages since I read Heidi but read it lots as a child and might give it another go to see if I remember it right. Thanks for this post
Same! Secret garden is a classic. And I hadn't read Heidi since I was a child either, but I saw that new cover and the memory of it all came straight back. It's on my re-read list this spring 🌱
I love the Secret Garden, one of my all time favourite books.
Me too! 🌱
