A little mulled wine and a good light to read to the last page when solstice candles relight. Popcorn’s made. Cat’s curled on my lap. Stockings hang from mantle. Cheer is drunk. Await sleigh bells ring. Sleep is nigh.
I’ve just sat down properly for the first time today and have been looking forward to reading this! The winter solstice is also my wedding anniversary and my husband and I, along with our 2 boys, are taking a trip to Anglesey for what we call our ‘wedding pilgrimage’. We visit the church we got married in, take a walk on a particular beach and have lunch at a particular pub. I’m really looking forward to your emails and the wonderful countdown they’ll be creating for both the solstice and our own little pilgrimage. Thank you 🙏

Ahhhh. Thank you. I’m thrilled for the Winter Solstice — I miss being out in my garden without needing to have full head-to-toe gear on! By the way, the albums Winter Solstice from Windham Hill are just lovely if one needs mellow instrumental music to go along with the fireside crackle.
