I love all the seasons for all the different reasons... Winter, warm inside gloomy inside with hope and expectation around the corner. Sprung.. a welcome change in all aspects.. the journey to summer getting closer daily, summer- a feeling if not reality of frivolity, a time to make the most of ‘life’... Autumn to settle and regenerate, a sense of introspection and intimacy as normal... I’d find it hard to choose one x
I always find this question so hard to answer as every season has its own unique spin.
Summer: loving the longer days, lighter evenings, feeling the sun on my face, spending as many hours outdoors as possible, alfresco dining, siping a chilled glass of wine.
Autumn: the chill in the air, odd misty morning, nature preparing itself to shut down for winter, the wonderful autumnal colours, sitting round the fire-pit wrapped in a blanket with a hot toddy.
Winter: the cozy feeling of hunkering down in front a roaring log fire, slower, easier days, snuggling on the sofa with a blanket and a good book (maybe a glass of red wine) traditional home cooked food.
Spring: the return of everything coming back to life, blossom on the tress, wildlife resurfacing, the lighter evenings.
Too many variations to each season to have just the one favourite.
Definitely NOT summer! It’s too hot, too sticky, too many wasps, and whilst I love seeing the decay of nature before she rests and renews in autumn (and all the colours that come with that) seeing so many lawns turn to straw and flowers turn to spindles makes me a little morose. Autumn and Spring both compete to be my favourite, but I *think* Autumn is the winner. Funnily enough it’s as much to do with what happens indoors as outdoors. Spring is so full of hope though...
I love the idea of a cosy place for seasonal chats, thank you for dreaming it up and facilitating it Vicky. I look forward to seeing how the conversations unfold and connecting with like-minded souls...and am always up for tea and cake!
Reading all these comments is so enriching, love the different perspectives on the seasons and local seasonal difference we all experience.
I love all early seasons almost equally, so early spring, early summer, early autumn, early winter. That’s when there’s the biggest shifts that bring me the most joy.
Also temperatures here in the alpine region in the south of Germany are less extreme, more mild.
My favourite is early summer, just feels so good to have the sun warm my skin after what feels often like a winter that never ends.
I both delight and regret the change of seasons- something new and different and the passing of the previous. The Japanese idea of mono no aware (the awareness of things and their transience) and wabi-sabi (the acceptance of transience and imperfection) have stuck with me.
So all seasons are anticipated, enjoyed, mourned in their passing ; but then another begins. So even when the snopdrops start to die back, there is beauty in it and anticipation of the next to happen.
No not for me, I am currently living in Australia, so Spring is almost upon us. I still feel like autumn is coming through and the slow descent towards Yule that informed my own circadian rhythms for so many years. Although I have been living down here for years now, my body is still attuned to the Northern Hemisphere.

Sooo hard to choose isn't it! I'm drawn to Autumn, but honestly I love all of them ☺️

Yes to all of these lovely descriptions! ☺️💫
I love this idea! My favorite season is summer. But specifically a Midwest summer!
ooh interesting! I'd love to know what a Midwest summer is like? 🌞
Autumn for me too (with Spring a close second). I love the energy of change, and the wistful notes of Autumn seem to highlight the beauty.

Autumn and Spring seem to be joint favourites for quite a few people here. Something that do with that time of transition I think 💫
I love this, Vicky! Can't wait to dive in over there!
Thank you! See you over there ☺️

Excellent! And yes, tea and cake essential ☕️🍰

Oh yes I agree, the start of a new season is always the best bit! So much expectation and excitement for a new change ☺️

Yes absolutely! And beautifully put 💫
Sounds so welcoming!! Autumn for me, then winter then spring and last but not least is summer 🧡🤍💚💛
ooh nice. So your favourite season is just around the corner too then! ☺️🍂

Ah I see! Yes it must take some adjusting when you've been used to the Northern Hemisphere. Well Spring has its charms too! ☺️🌱
Pure magic 💫
Great minds think alike! And yes, summer is wonderful, and we still have quite a bit of it left to enjoy 🌻☺️
